Nerd Dash 2010 = WIN.

by Steve on May 24, 2010

To say Nerd Dash 2010 was a success is an understatement.

We had a freaking BLAST running in the Warrior Dash dressed up like cavemen.  Even better, we managed to raise $3,395 for Camp Sunshine, enough money to send half a dozen kids with cancer to summer camp.   If you want to see the rest of the pictures, head over to NerdDash.com

Here’s a recap video of the day’s events:

Nerd Dash 2010 Recap Video

Honestly, it was already a day I’ll never forget, and then it got even better. Zack (Zac? Zach?), a Nerd Fitness reader, tapped me on the shoulder after the race was done and told me that he was a fan of the site!   This was my first ever encounter in real life with somebody who knows about me just through Nerd Fitness.  It’s maybe the coolest thing ever.

So Zack, thanks for making my day man, and thanks for reading!

The End

This weekend marked the end of a few pretty important things. I’m a big Lost fan (hopefully not a surprise), and I have to say that I was actually really pleased with how it all ended.  I won’t spoil anything in here, but given the scope and often convoluted story lines involved with the show, I think the creators did a fantastic job tying up the series and doing the show justice with its finale.  If you want to talk Lost, we can hop onto the NF Message Boards and debate there (spoiler warning).

This weekend also marked the end of my crazy Spring: we’re done with the Spring season of cruises (I went on five of our six events), and the next one isn’t until early September.  I sure do love the cruises, but they’re quite exhausting and certainly throw off my sleep/eat/exercise schedule, so I’m looking forward to getting back into my routine, putting some muscle back on, and maybe sleeping every once and a while!

Now that I’m done with Nerd Dash, I’m already starting to think about how to make Nerd Dash 2011 even bigger and better. Cooler/funnier costumes, more sponsors, more runners, more support…it will be epic.  Details to come in early 2011.

And now it’s time to put on that hard hat and get to work on finishing the NF Rebel Fitness Guide.

Once again, thank you all for your support for Nerd Dash, and thanks for reading Nerd Fitness.  I’m grinning from ear to ear this morning.

The Rebellion grows stronger…

-Steve

Sweet! A shout-out on NerdFitness! It was a pleasure to meet you Steve, and you should be very proud about helping out Camp Sunshine, which is a wonderful charity. Keep up the good work with the site!

Steve, great job on the fundraising! Those kids will really appreciate it.

Also, nice costumes for the Warrior Dash. I was out there on Sunday sans costume, but I had a great time! I'm definitely going to do it again next year!

I WANT THE HELMET! I will do Warrior Dash somewhere on the east coast next year. It MUST BE DONE.

How was running through the mud in the VFFs? I wonder if I could do it barefoot. I love squishy mud feeling.

Looks like y'all had a ton of fun and it was all for a good cause! Hope the costumes get crazier next year.

Next year man, we're gonna make like transformers costumes and Nintendo characters be some of the options. We're gonna go all out and really raise some absurd amount of money.

If you're still in the area and up for it you should join us.

      Hey Jess!

The Vibrams saved my ass – they were GREAT in the mud. Everybody else ended the race with like 8 pounds of mud in their shoes, some people lost their shoes, etc. The KSO's worked like a charm.

I strongly recommend all warriors to run in Vibrams!

Is next year gonna be like DragonCon Nerd Dash then? :P

Hm so you had an easy time w/the VFFs in the mud? I love the feel of them in the mud and fact they don't cake up, but while hashing in them I found I slipped alot. Waiting anxiously on the release of the Women's KSO Treks to remedy that!

A little late on this, but very cool Steve. The costumes pretty much made my day. Nothing like diving into a mud pit to make you feel alive.

      Thanks Moe,

Yeah unfortunately in today's society you don't get to jump in mud much once you get over the age of 5. Next year we're gonna go all out with our costumes…it will be epic.
